Family Garden
Client:
Residential, Front and Rear Garden, Chalfont St Giles
The brief for this garden was to create a family garden that had space for grown up entertainment – dining and relaxing – as well as space for children to play. The location has a lovely rural feeling to it, backing onto open fields. It was important to retain this feeling of integrating nature into the space whilst introducing new structure to the garden.
The design for the rear garden includes a new dining patio next to the new kitchen extension and a winding clay paver path leading to a secluded firepit area and onwards to a new children’s play area. Naturalistic, colourful, wildlife friendly planting and a log stepping stone path created from a felled tree from the site add a natural feeling to the garden. New trees are added to enhance the biodiversity of the garden – adding spring, summer and autumn interest.
At the front, a new entrance way with brick pillars leads to a new gravel driveway, replacing a crumbling concrete drive. A black and white tiled pathway creates a smart new entrance to the house. New planting is simple and classic – predominantly white – narcissus, tulips, roses, white hydrangeas and anemones will provide seasonal interest.
