Room to Breathe Garden, Amersham Hospital
Client:
Amersham Hospital 'Room to Breathe Garden'
After the Chelsea Flower Show in May 2025, to carry forward our message about the importance of green spaces in hospitals, we transformed a disused courtyard at Amersham Hospital into a new garden.
The garden now offers visitors, staff, and patients an accessible space to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the healing benefits of nature.
The planting scheme has been carefully designed to be calming and to offer interest throughout the year. A winter-flowering cherry tree begins the year with blossom to lift darker days, followed by spring bulbs and then flowering perennials in a soothing white, green and burgundy palette. Lime green and burgundy Acer palmatum trees add vibrant colour in spring and summer, before delivering spectacular autumn tones as their leaves turn shades of red, orange, and yellow.
